Winston Smith. A smart man who opposes to the government that dominates his nation. He has a very serious ulcer above his right ankle that prevents him from walking properly. Winston is tired of all the situations that he and his compatriots have to live, so he wants to do a revolution to end the repression.

 

Julia: The love of Winston’s life. She is twenty-six years old. She works in the Fiction department. She thinks of sex as a really relevant issue to her. 



O’Brien: A man who has a formidable appearance. O’Brien is (apparently) a member of the Brotherhood. He wants Winston to be part of the Brotherhood. He tries to get Winston’s confidence. 

 

Big brother: The supreme ruler of Oceania. Infallible and all-powerful. He controls everything, nothing escapes from him. He is unknown. He is immortal. He is an object of worship. 

 

Mr Charrington: A sixty-three old man, widow, who was inhabited. He agrees with Winston on his political views.
